Waiting for Fries showpieces a cultural phenomenon of Maryland’s Ocean City boardwalk. This painting was created from a photo taken by artist Patrick Henry while waiting in line at the famous Thrashers French Fries at the inlet in Ocean City. Ever the artist, Patrick was visiting the beach with his family to take advantage of a tropical storm coming up the coast that might create great opportunities for photographs. While there, Patrick, his wife Velda, and their daughter Stephanie joined the long line for Thrasher’s French Fries and he took a photo with his phone. He is fascinated by this “American enterprise phenomena that works”. He says, “You can buy fries anywhere, but people stand in line for Thrashers”. 1
